The Miss Imagen beauty pageant collaborated with Centro de la Familia de Utah to offer a workshop on the different beauty standards and stereotypes that influence our perceptions and decisions. The Miss Imagen 2012 candidates made presentations on past and present beauty standards in different cultures to illustrate that what makes a person attractive or beautiful is subjective, and transcendental values are ultimately what matter the most.
The workshop took place at the Midvale Performance Center, Sept. 4, and included a short class on good posture to portray confidence. Participants also learned about the importance of voicing their opinions. The workshop was offered as part of Centro's Healthy Relationships program, which is funded by the Utah Department of Health Violence and Injury Prevention Program.
